Green store

New 5-star GBCA-rated Green Store opens at Westfield Bondi Junction, Australia.

My new work environment with a new green concept for L'Occitane en Provence. I am proud to share with my customers all about this project and our commitments.

What is a Green store?

This store recognises a standard of excellence in sustainable and environmentally conscious design, construction and operation.

Which eco initiatives?

- Foutain refill

Paving the way towards a plastic free future, consumers simply select their product and a L’Occitane Forever Bottle. Made of long-lasting, lightweight, recyclable and 100% recycled aluminium, these bottles allows consumers to not only top up on their favourite products without creating more waste, but also save financially. In addition, each return and refill using your forever bottle saves on average 20%!

-Green wall

A key feature, both aesthetically pleasing and environmentally beneficial is the living green wall with a fully integrated irrigation system that not only creates a harmonious environment, but it is also a natural air-filter. The plants in the green wall help metabolise toxins in the air, while at the same time releasing oxygen into the air but at a much larger scale than regular potted plants.

-Icebreaker sink

Forging a partnership with Betta Stone, an Australian-based company who are pioneers in producing engineered benchtops from recycled glass, L'Occitane Australia was able to supply collected glass from in-store with TerraCycle program for the manufacture of the Boutique’s benchtops and icebreaker sink.

-Optimal functionality and comfort

  • Utilising a sound reduction construction method for the wall between the back and front of the store to ensure acoustic comfort for team members during their break.

  • An ergonomist-approved counter area design to ensure a high level of comfort for team members working behind the counter.

  • Lighting design to offer a well-lit space.

-Continual improvements

  • There will be a separate water meter in the store to measure and set reduction targets

  • All electricity supply for back of store will run on sensors while LED lights and signage in the front of store will run on timers

A must see!

Project | 01 Open days in WasteWater treatment plant of Pisserate, in France (23)

Saur Water, the Group’s water section subsidiary company, has developed many different wastewater treatment processes.

The Saur Group was born out of the need of rural communities to have access to solutions specific to the needs of their locality.

Pisserate's station required a renovation project, which saw a significant upgrade to new design and construction of new installations.

Corrèze Region partner asked for 2 events to present the refurbishment project with new technologies installed.

Saur offered me the opportunity to setting up this event as project coordinator with full responsability  and budget allocated.

I had to organize 2 events during the open days.

The first one was to explain by formal presentation the wastewater plant to the managers, directors of the group Saur and to the council.

It started with a meeting outside, in front of the station following with a lunch for 40 people.

The next two days, I etablished an educational project in co-operation with local partners. I invited students to discover the station. In the park of Pisserate's station, I created a signalisation path with an ecologic garden with hives and protected local flowers. During the visits, on this path they were entertained with several activities around watercollect process, water quality regulations and the relationship between human society and natural environment. We welcomed 35 children by group and around 50 visitors.

During the visits, the public could go to "a water bar" with quizz, blindtest about the 3 types of water, brochures about water collect and drinking water. Everybody was invited to visited all our partner to create this project and espacially this ecologic garden.

I worked with designers, printers, biologists, landscapers, animal associations and of course employees of the station.

They made interviews with competitors, jurys and  staff on the web tv. Even if we were not responsible of the web tv we had to make sure they had everything they need. Which means, we had to prepare all the security required.  Even teachers played security guards, watching if some tried to cheat or if help was required.

My project coordinator team and I created a "bible event"  available for everyone with all important information and contacts.

During the night, we ordered pizza and made a buffet with food and drinks for students and all staff.

During the competition everybody was free to come visit and supporting the teams.

After this event "24h24s", 2 days after, all students and jury of professionals came back for the awards ceremony. We participated for the vote of "public best's video". Then, everyone was welcome for a cocktail which was a chance for students who did the competition to talk direclty with professionals of animation studios and some students got a job after this!
